Ah, Melbourne alleyways: effortlessly bringing together urinating drunks and well shod diners who seek the restaurant gems hiding bashfully behind a dumpster. Portello Rosso is one such gem, but being in one of the less dodgy alleyways, the fear of getting a little bit stabbed or accidently winding up at B grade karaoke is much reduced. "I cannot find it as a value for me, however the service and atmosphere were great there.Dessert menu has to improve, I found it boring. Food Taste was nice. I consider it a great place for first daters who loves to talk and know each other...."

"Service was good. I thought it would be better value for money. Some of the dishes I thought that they probably didn't merit the price ie $8 for a king prawn wrapped in jamon and didn't overwhelm me. Paella was good but sharing it between 4 people as recommended meant that you didn't really have enough of the goodies (seafood) in the dish, just a lot of rice. Deserts were mediocre. Chilli in a melted hot chocolate pudding was not well received. I guess the prices represent a small quantity. A nice place with good atmosphere though. "

"Been here twice to eat in the space of 2 years and both times the service was not great. All waiters were quite rude pushy and sarcastic. Would be a great experience otherwise if the staff didn't leave such an impact.. Not rushing back. "
